A series of live overdubbed improvisations for granular sampler, FM synthesizer, and autotuned voice. Original sample and video recordings used in this composition were made on location at the Hoosic River in the Berkshire Mountains in Western Massachusetts.
Having now lived half a year in Puerto Rico, I found it incredibly odd how immediately back in my creative element I was when I returned home to Massachusetts for a week in December 2019. Part of me knows this is in relation to mood swings based on the weather. Despite my physical and mental affinity for living in a tropical climate, which I know is overall a healthier environment for my body, there is a part of me that will always long for the cold isolation of New England winters. In small doses, you can create amazing things in these places, though I know if I stayed longer than a week I'd absolutely fall into a seasonal depression.
This composition was produced immediately following that week back home, a week in the cold.
